All right, so now I have a list of 3 ways of doing “of the year”. One may appeal to some people more than the others do. I have don’t the motto/slogan last year, but I really want to do all of them this year. Regardless of how many are used, they all create a theme for the year.
Now is the hard part: deciding which “of the year” to use and what it should be.
What do you want from 2020?
What do you want to encompass your year?
What summarizes your goals this year in your current season of life?
If you could only have this to follow with your decisions, what would it be?
What excites, inspires, and focuses you?
If you are asked in 5 years what 2020 was the "year of," what would you want to say?
My themes for "of the year"
- Words of the year:
- Learn & Grow
- Verses of the year: See my page of mission verses
- 2 Timothy 1:7 -- For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline.
- 1 Peter 5:6-7 -- Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.
- 2 Corinthians 5:20a -- We are therefore Christ's ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us.
- 2 Chronicles 32:7a -- Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged...
- Philippians 2:13 – [Not in your own strength] for it is God who is all the while effectually at work in you [energizing and creating in you the power and desire], both to will and to work for His good pleasure and satisfaction and delight.
- Motto/slogan of the year:
- Calmly, confidently, and consistently having faith, focus, and fun.
Once you have your “of the year”, it is important to keep it in front of you! Be creative! Whether it is a sticky note on your mirror, a pretty background for your computer or phone, putting it in your planner, framing it, or getting lots of fun little things with it on it. Make sure it inspires you and is somewhere you will pay attention to it regularly if not daily. You’ll see in my planner walk-through video on Facebook tomorrow that I put the words and the motto/slogan in my planner and read them daily. I keep my mission verses written out on a paper I use as a bookmark for my One Year Bible and read through them each day also.
